Westminster Presbyterian Church of Sioux Falls: Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Presbytery of South Dakota and the Synod of Lakes and Prairies
In 1962 a neighborhood survey was conducted to determine interest in establishing a new Presbyterian church in the Sioux Falls neighborhood called Hilltop. There was great support for creating a new church and the Rev. Glenn Polzine was called as organizing pastor.
On June 2, 1963 the first worship service was held and later moved to what was then the ABC Marketing building on Sycamore Ave. This building had a colorful history and at one time housed a saloon, but served as Westminster Church from 1963 to 1967.
Westminster's current location was purchased and the original church structure dedicated on Pentecost Sunday 1968 with the cost of $64,000. Since that time two additions have been built and the congregation has grown to over 500 members in 2008. The most recent addition in 2006 included a new sanctuary and narthex. The cost of this addition was $1,400,000.
